Two Coventry poets, Andrea Mbarushimana and Russ Berry, have been selected to travel to Cork (Ireland) to perform their work.
Andrea and Russ will head out to Ireland for two days next week (24/7/2017), and will also attend a reading in Conalkilty.

Cork is one of Coventry’s multitude of twin cities, and as part of the annual Coventry-Cork poetry exchange, now in its ninth year, two poets from Cork will then visit Coventry in November 2017. They will read their work as the guest poets at Fire & Dust, our monthly poetry event, held at the recently expanded Big Comfy Bookshop. Andrea and Russ are themselves regular performers at Fire & Dust, so this will likely be a fun reunion for everyone involved.
The Cork poets will also meet the Lord Mayor of Coventry, explore the city and visit other places in the West Midlands.
Adam Steiner (Creative Projects Lead of Silhouette Press, the local publisher managing the exchange) shares his thoughts: “There is a great tradition of poetry in Ireland; their audiences and their poets are passionate and very welcoming people. I was lucky enough to be part of the 2015 poetry exchange and it was a great experience for me to visit one of Coventry’s sister cities – Russ and Andrea are both excellent poets and I know they will do the city proud.”

If any other local poetry nights have space to welcome the Cork poets (participants TBC soon) in early November – most likely the second week – please get in touch with Silhouette Press or HCE, as we’d love for them to fully sample the diverse lit scene we have here in the West Midlands.

Silhouette Press is grateful to acknowledge the continued support of partner organisations, Coventry City Council and O Bheal in Ireland.
